Zamboanga City, nakapagtala ng 51 kaso ng South African variant ng COVID-19

Kinumpirma ng Department of Health at Philippine Genome Center (PGC) na mayroong na-detect na 501.V2 o B.1.351 SARS-CoV-2 variant (South African variant) sa Zamboanga City.

Ayon sa City Government ng Zamboanga, base sa 257 samples na ipinadala para sa genome sequencing simula noong March 25, nasa 51 ang natagpuang kaso ng South African variant habang isa ang Philippine variant.

Sa 52 kaso ng dalawang COVID-19 variant, 37 ang gumaling na at 15 ang pumanaw. Kabilang sa mga pumanaw ang ilan na may co-morbidities.

Nakakolekta ang DOH IX ng karagdagang samples para sa genomic bio-surveillance sa mga kaso sa nasabing lugar.

Minamadali naman ng City Government ang contact tracing activities, katuwang ang DOH, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) at kasama ang suporta ng NIATF.

Muli namang umapela ang City Government sa publiko na istriktong sundin ang health at safety protocols, at ang istriktong implementasyon ng quarantine protocols upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng nakakahawang sakit.
