Pag-iimbestiaga sa kondisyon ng delivery riders, suportado ni Sen. de Lima
Nagpahayag na ng kanyang pagsuporta si Senator Leila de Lima sa inihaing resolusyon sa Senado para maimbestigahan ang tinatawag na ‘gig employment,’ tulad ng delivery riders, motorcycle riders at iba pang freelancers.
Sinabi ni de Lima na walang mga benepisyo, job security, medical benefits, maging retirement pay ang mga nasa ‘gig economy.’
“Gig economy workers, particularly delivery riders, have played an important role amid the pandemic as more people relied on them to deliver food, groceries and other necessities, but they continue to face work struggles considering their lack of job security benefits,” sabi pa nito.
Aniya, nakasalalay na lang sa lehislatura para mabago ang kondisyon ng kanilang pagtatrabaho at mabigyan sila ng proteksyon maging ang kanilang karapatan.
Kailangan aniyang balansehin ang interes ng ‘gig economy workers’ at ang kanilang employers.
Inihain ni Sen. Risa Hontiveros ang Senate Resolution No. 732 sa kanyang pagkuwestiyon sa employee-employer relationship ng mga nasa ‘gig economy.’
