Rehabilitasyon sa Biliran bridge, sisimulan sa Hulyo
Sisimulan ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang rehabilitasyon sa Biliran Bridge sa buwan ng Hulyo.
Ayon kay DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, kabilang sa P50-million project ang pagsasaayos ng bearings ng tulay, bridge deck, pagpapalit ng bolts, de-rusting, repainting at retrofitting ng bridge girder gamit ang carbon fiber plate.
Magtatayo rin ng field office para sa maintenance crew sa ilalim ng nasabing tulay.
Sinabi ng kalihim na hindi na kayang ma-accommodate ng tulay ang malalaki at mabibigay ng sasakyan dahil sa kondisyon nito.
“Apart from securing the safety and convenience of travelers and residents, we are also preserving the historical significance of the existing bridge,” pahayag ni Villar.
Ang Biliran Bridge ay ikinokonsidera bilang natatanging tulay na nagkokonekta sa isla ng Biliran Province at Leyte.
