P30-M halaga ng smuggled na sigarilyo, nasabat sa Mindanao Container Terminal
Nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs – Port of Cagayan De Oro ang P30 milyong halaga ng smuggled na sigarilyo noong May 21, 2021.
Ayon kay Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) – CDO Field Station Chief IO1 Oliver Valiente, nakatanggap sila ng derogatory information mula sa national intelligence agencies ukol sa naturang shipment.
Dahil dito, humiling sila kay District Collector John Simon na maglabas ng alert order.
Mula sa China, dumating ang kontrabando sa Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) sa Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental noong May 20, 2021.
Sumunod na araw, nagsagawa ng partial examination at dito nadiskubre ang kontrabando na unang idineklara na may ilang footwears.
Dahil dito, naglabas ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention laban sa shipment.
Naka-consign ang kargamento sa isang “Lorna Oftana” mula sa General Santos City at ngayon ay iniimbestigahan na dahil sa posibleng paglabag sa Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
