Panukala para sa postponement ng first BARMM elections inindorso na sa Senado

Hiningi na ni Senator Francis Tolentino ang pag-apruba ng mga kapwa senador sa panukala na humihiling sa pagpapaliban ng unang election sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Bilang namumuno sa Senate Committee on Local Government, inisponsoran ni Tolentino ang Senate Bill No. 2214, ang consolidated bill ng dalawang panukala para sa pagpapaliban ng BARMM elections mula 2022 ay gawin na lang sa 2025.
Sa kanyang sponsorship speech, sinabi ng senador na suportado ng Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) ang panukala gayundin ng mga lokal na pamahalaan sa rehiyon at ng mga non-government organizations at civic groups.
“Indeed, the committee sees the need to extend the BARMM transition period in order to implement the political and normalization efforts embodied in the CAB (Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro). However, it is also mindful of its impact to the Bangsamoro people’s right to assert their democracy in the said region and exercise their right to suffrage,” sabi ng senador.
Nakasaad sa Bangsamoro Organic Law ang unang parliamentary election sa BARMM ay dapat gaganapin kasabay ng national and local elections sa Mayo 9, sa susunod na taon.
Dagdag katuwiran pa ni Tolentino marami pa ang dapat asikasuhin sa BARMM at nangangailangan ang mga ito ng karagdagang panahon.
