Pag-aaral para magamit ang virgin coconut oil kontra COVID-19 nagkakalinaw – DOST
Malaki ang potensyal na magamit bilang murang gamot sa 2019 coronavirus ang virgin coconut oil.

Ipinaliwanag nito na ang ginawang pag-aaral at pagsasaliksik ng kagawaran sa antiviral properties ng langis mula sa niyog laban sa COVID-19.
“Based on available literature, compounds in coconut oil have shown to be safe and effective at killing viruses,” sabi ng kalihim.
Aniya, dalawang research ang kanilang sinuportahan, isa na ang in-vivo project na pinagunahan ni Dr. Fabian Dayrit at ng kanyang grupo mula sa Ateneo de Manila University.
“They aimed to determine through in-vitro experiments, whether lauric acid and its derivatives, can prevent or diminish the infectivity of SARS-CoV-2,” paliwanag ni de la Peña.
Aniya, sa pag-aaral ng grupo ni Dayrit, may mga ebidensiya na sumusuporta na ang VCO ay may taglay na panlaban para sa mild COVID-19 cases.
“These results are consistent with the previous literature in terms of VCO’s capability to destroy the virus, but not on its capability to prevent viral replication. This work will provide the global health community insights on VCO as viable and affordable treatment against COVID-19,” dagdag pa nito.
