Pagpapaalis sa puwesto ni Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo at dalawang iba pa, ipinag-utos ng Ombudsman
Ipinag-utos na ni Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales ang pagpapaalis sa serbisyo nina Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo, provincial treasurer na si Danilo Mendez at provincial accountant na si Teodorico Reyes.
Ito ay dahil sa kasong grave misconduct na may koneksyon sa disbursement ng pondo para sa mga kalamidad.
Sa isang resolusyon na may petsang March 16, ipinag-utos din ng Ombudsman ang pagkansela sa pagtanggap ng retirement benefits ng tatlong opisyal ng gobyerno.
Nakitaan din ng Ombudsman ng probable cause na maghain sa antigraft court ng Sandiganbayan ng 11 counts ng malversation of public funds at paglabag sa Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act laban kina Degamo, Mendez at Reyes.
Dahil dito, umapela sina Degamo, Reyes at Mendez sa naging desisyon ng Ombudsman.
Ngunit ayon kay Provincial Attorney Richard Enojo, hindi pa pinal ang utos ng Ombudsman dahil maaari pa itong iapela sa Court of Appeals at sa Supreme Court.
Nag-ugat ang kaso nang maghain ng reklamo ang residente ng Barangay Taclobo na si June Vincent Manuel Gaudan sa ginawang disbursement ng tatlong opisyal sa 480 million pesos na para dapat sa calamity funds.
Inilabas ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ang pondo sa Negros Oriental matapos mag-iwan ng pinsala sa probinsya sa bagyong Sendong noong 2011 at ang 6.9 magnitude na lindol noong February 2012.
Ngunit nakita sa record na ibinayad ito sa mga contractor kahit pa binawi na ng DBM ang special allotment release order (SARO) para sa pondong inilabas.
