Pinag-iingat ng Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) ang publiko sa pagkain ng lamang dagat na nakukuha sa ilang baybaying dagat.
Ayon sa BFAR, ito ay dahil sa red tide.
Apektado ng red tide ang mga baybaying dagat ng Puerto Princesa Bay, Puerto Princesa City sa Palawan; Dauis at Tagbilaran City sa Bohol; Tambobo Bay, Siaton sa Negros Oriental; cDaram Island, at Zumarraga, Cambatutay at Villareal Bays sa Western Samar; Calubian, at Leyte, Carigara at Ormoc Bays, at Cancabato Bay, Tacloban City sa Leyte; Biliran Islands; Balite Bay, Mati City sa Davao Oriental; Murcielagos Bay sa Zamboanga del Norte; Lianga at Bislig Bays, at Hinatuan sa Surigao del Sur.
Positibo rin sa red tide ang Irong-irong, Maqueda at San Pedro Bays sa Western Samar.
Ipinagbabawal ang pagkain ng shellfish lalo na ang alamang sa mga nabanggit na lugar.
Gayunman, maari namang kainin ang isda, pusit, hipon, at alimango basta’t siguraduhin lamang na tatanggalan ng hasang, huhugsan at lulutuing mabuti.
