Kawalan ng protocols ng PNP sa paggamit ng body cameras binatikos
Nagtataka si House Committee on Dangerous Drugs Chairman at Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers kung bakit hindi pa tapos ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa pagbuo ng protocols sa paggamit ng body cameras sa anti-criminality operations.
Ayon sa kongresista, hindi naman ito mahirap intindihin at ang kailangan lang gawin ng PNP ay gayahin ang best practices ng law enforcers sa ibang mga bansa gaya ng Estados Unidos, Australia, at ilang European countries sa paggamit ng body cameras sa mga operasyon.
Kung tutuusin anya ay kayang gawin ng ilang araw lang ang orientation sa paggamit nito base sa worldwide protocols.
Una nang naipamahagi ang body cameras sa mga istasyon ng pulisya sa Metro Manila.
Pero ayon kay PNP Directorate for Logistics director Major General Angelito Casimiro ay hindi pa tapos ang protocols dahil tinitingnan pa daw ng Directorate for Operations ang privacy issues kapag iprisinta sa korte bilang ebidensya ang videos na kuha mula sa body cameras.
Para naman kay Barbers, hindi na dapat gaanong pagtuunang pansin ng mga otoridad ang privacy sa paghabol sa mga kriminal.
