Pag-iimbestiga sa pagpatay sa opisyal ng NUJP ipinasa sa task force

Inanunsiyo ni Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra na kakausapin niya ang Presidential Task Force on Media Security para imbestigahan ang pagpatay kahapon kay John Heredia, director ng National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP).

Alas-2 ng hapon kahapon nang pagbabarilin ng riding-in-tandem killers si Heredia sa parking lot ng CitiHardware sa Roxas City, Capiz.

Nagsisilbing municipal administrator sa bayan ng Pilar ang 54-anyos na biktima, na hindi na umabot ng buhay sa Capiz Doctors Hospital.

“Considering that John Heredia was a journalistm I will refer his case to the Presidential Task Force on Media Security for investigation and case build up,” sabi ni Guevarra, na co-chairman ng task force.

Ayon naman sa NUJP matagal ng miyembro at opisyal ng grupo si Heredia at nagsilbi pa itong chairman ng kanilang Capiz chapter.

“While Heredia was no longer in media when he was killed, his death is a symptom of the culture of impunity in the Philippines,” ayon sa NUJP.

Nabanggit din ng NUJP na ang misis ni Heredia, si Atty. Criselda Azarcon-Heredia, na miyembro naman ng National Union of People’s Lawyers, ay naging target ng ambush noong Septyembre 2019.

Nabatid na ang pagtatangka sa buhay nito ay nangyari matapos ito ma-red tagged sa posters na kumalat sa Iloilo.
