Pangulong Duterte, nag-sorry sa pagpapalawig ng MECQ

Humingi ng paumanhin si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pagpapalawig ng pag-iral ng Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) sa tinatawag na NCR plus.

Sa kaniyang public address, Miyerkules ng gabi (April 28), ipinaliwanag ng Pangulo na kailangan ito upang mapigilan ang pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19.

“Mga kababayan ko, nanghihingi lang ako sa inyo ng paumanhin, I’m sorry that I have to impose a longer, itong modified enhanced comunnity [quarantine] kasi kailangan. Nag-spike… tumaas ‘yung infections at ‘yung hospital natin puno,” pahayag ng Pangulo.

Dagdag pa ng Pangulo, “Ngayon, alam ko galit kayo. Magalit na lang kayo sa akin kasi wala man talaga ako magawa. Ang virus na ‘yan, lumilipad ‘yan sa hangin. Kung kausap mo may virus, ma-virus ka din. ‘Yan ang problema sa COVID-19.”

Hiling ng Pangulo, sumunod na lamang dahil para aniya ito sa kapakanan at kaligtasan ng lahat.

“I would be the last, ako yung pinakahuling tao na mag-istorbo sa buhay ninyo. Sabi ko nga e, I want the people to be comfortable. So sometimes you have to interdict or intervene because it is of national interest,” saad pa nito.

Pinalawig ng Punong Ehekutibo ang MECQ sa Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna at Rizal hanggang Mayo 14.

Ipatutupad din ang MECQ sa City of Santiago, Quirino at Abra sa buong buwan ng Mayo.
