Nagsilbi si Reyes bilang Press Secretary noong administrasyon nina dating Pangulong Fidel Ramos at Joseph Estrada.
Bago naging Kalihim, isang dating mamamahayag si Reyes.
Nakatakdang ihatid sa huling hantungan ang labi ni Reyes sa Lunes.
Pansamantalang ilalagak ang labi nito sa Manila Memorial Park.
