Metro Manila mayors nagbotohan na sa nais na quarantine status simula May 1

Tatlong quarantine status ang inilatag ng 17 Metro Manila mayors para pagbotohan, ayon kay MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos.

Ngunit agad nilinaw ni Abalos na nagkasundo ang mga alkalde na hindi isapubliko ang kanilang pagboto.

Sabi nito, bahala na si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na mag-anunsiyo ng susunod na quarantine status ng Metro Manila simula sa Sabado, Mayo 1 at ang kanilang rekomendasyon aniya ay naisumite na nila sa Inter-Agency Task Force.

“The MMC just recommends to the IATF. Hence, it is within the purview of President Rodrigo Duterte to decide on the next NCR status,” aniya.

Ibinahagi ng opisyal na ang pinagbotohang opsyon ng mga alkalde; enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) at ang tinatawag na “hybrid” o “flex” modified enhanced community quarantine.

Nabanggit ni Abalos na ang ikatlong opsyon ay ipinanukala ni Health Undersecretary  Maria Rosario Vergeire at paliwanag niya dito ay makakapagbukas pa ng mga karagdagang negosyo na dapat aprubado ng Department of Trade and Industry.

“Hybrid MECQ is intended to allay the fear of health workers for a possible surge again. That’s why we want to do it gradually. By opening some businesses, we are also addressing the dilemma and hunger of those who lost their jobs,” paliwanag pa ni Abalos.

Dagdag pa niya, ang rekomendasyon ay base sa mga datos na iprinisinta ni NEDA Secretary Karl Chua at ng ilang health experts.

“Through hybrid MECQ, we are hitting the middle ground. There will still be strict border controls to avoid transmission, but at the same time there will also be additional economic activities,” sabi pa nito.

Ayaw din aniya ng mga alkalde na masayang ang mga naging positibong resulta sa pagpapatupad ng ECQ at MECQ.
