Repopulation program para sa local hog industry, hindi kayang pondohan ng DA

Hindi sapat ang pondo ng Department of Agriculture (DA) upang pondohan ang repopulation program sa local hog industry.

Ito ang sinabi ni Agriculture Secretary William Dar sa pagdinig ng House Committees on Agriculture and Food at Trade and Industry.

Sinabi ni Dar na mangangailangan ng karagdagang P6.6 billion para mapalakas pa ang repopulation program sa buong bansa.

Mahalaga aniya ang karagdagang pondo upang matiyak na sa susunod na dalawa hanggang tatlong taon ay maibabalik na sa dati ang lagay ng local hog industry.

Mayroong P500 million na inilaan ang DA para sa loan program ng Agricultural Credit Policy Council sa mga backyard at semi-commercial hog raisers sa mga ikinokonsidera bilang green zones.

Aabot naman sa P600 million ang para sa backyard clustering sa ASF-affected areas.

Nasa P27 billion naman para sa commercial hog raising sa loan program ng Land Bank of the Philippines at Development Bank of the Philippines.
