Sen. Hontiveros, pinuri ang pagpapatawag ng DFA kay Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian
Sinabi ni Senator Risa Hontiveros na tama ang hakbang ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa pagpapatawag kay Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian para ipaliwanag ang tumitinding tensyon sa West Philippine Sea.
Pinuri rin ni Hontiveros ang kagawaran sa paggiit sa naging desisyon ng International Arbitral Tribunal noong 2016 na pumabor sa Pilipinas.
“The Chinese Embassy’s recent statements have often been flagrant lies. It denied the presence of maritime militia in Julian Felipe Reef, saying that fishing vessels were just taking shelter due to the bad weather. It claimed that Julian Felipe Reef is part of China’s Nansha Qundao, a name it gave our Spratly Islands,” sabi ng senadora.
Pinuna rin nito ang pagpilit ng China sa katotohanan na bahagi pa rin ng teritoryo ng Pilipinas ang mga inaangkin nila sa West Philippine Sea at hindi pagrespeto sa ilang opisyal ng bansa.
Umaasa si Hontiveros na naging malinaw kay Huang ang posisyon ng DFA.
