Pagkamatay ng curfew violator sa Cavite nais maimbestigahan ng ilang kongresista.
Hiniling ng tatlong miyembro ng Makabayan bloc na maimbestigahan sa Kamara ang pagkamatay ng isang curfew violator sa General Trias City sa Cavite.
Sa House Resolution No. 1697 na inihain nina Bayan Muna partylist Reps. Carlos Zarate, Eufemia Cullamat at Ferdinand Gaite, nais nila na pangunahan ng House Committee on Human Rights ang pagiimbestiga sa pagkamatay ni Darren Peñaredondo.
Namatay sa stroke si Peñaredondo dalawang araw matapos sumailalim sa malupit na pumping exercise ng mga humuli sa kanyang pulis dahil sa paglabag sa curfew para bumili ng tubig.
“Complaints against police abuse over quarantine violations are not new. During the first few months of lockdown in March of last year, rights groups have raised concerns over unjust punishment used by police against quarantine violators,” banggit ng tatlong mambabatas sa kanilang resolusyon.
Anila hiniling nila ang imbestigasyon sa posibleng naging paglabag sa Anti-Torture Law.
