Pag-iimbestiga sa PNP – PDEA shootout dapat ikasa ng Kongreso – de Lima
Hinimok ni Senator Leila de Lima ang Senado na imbestigahan ang nangyaring pagpapatayan ng mga tauhan ng Quezon City Police at mga ahente ng PDEA noong nakaraang Pebrero 24.
Sa inihain niyang Senate Resolution No. 688, nais malaman ni de Lima ang pagiging lehitimo ng operasyon ng dalawang puwersa ng gobyerno.
Dapat din aniyang maging malinaw ang basehan sa pagkasa ng anti-drug operations para maiwasan na ang katulad na pangyayari, na nagresulta sa pagkamatay ng dalawang pulis, isang PDEA agent at isang police asset.
“It is imperative to determine the legitimacy of the operations of law enforcement agencies that resulted in deaths of officers and civilians, as well as the legality of utilizing inmates in the operations of law enforcement agents and officers which poses a number of serious risks both to the public and the success of legitimate law enforcement operations,” sabi ng senadora.
Umaasa si de Lima na sa pamamagitan ng pag-iimbestiga ng Senado sa pangyayari ay magkakaroon ng reporma sa law enforcement procedures and standard protocols para maiwasan na ang ‘misencounters.’
