UN chief pinuna ang mga bansa na nag-‘panic buying’ ng COVID 19 vaccines

Binatikos ni United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres ang ilang bansa na nag-imbak ng COVID 19 vaccines at nanawagan ito na ibahagi ang kanilang mga bakuna sa ibang bansa.

“I’m very concerned with this very unfair distribution of vaccines in the world,” sabi ni Guterres sa isang panayam sa kanya at aniya,”it’s in the interest of everybody to make sure that as soon as possible and in a fair way, everybody gets vaccinated everywhere and that vaccines are considered to be a truly global public good.”

Tinawag nitong ‘self interest’ ng mayayamang bansa na mag-imbak ng mga bakuna higit pa sa pangangailangan ng kanilang populasyon.

Panawagan niya ay tigilan ang pag-iimbak ng bakuna at aniya makakabuti kung ito ay kanilang ibabahagi sa mga bansa na lubos na nangangailangan.

Ibinahagi pa ni Guterres na nahihirapan ang COVAX na magpadala ng tulong na bakuna sa ilang bansa dahil sa pag-iimbak ng ilan.

“The worst is for some countries to have it and for other countries not have it… it will be devastating if this would mean that people could move within the developed world but not within the developing world,” babala nito.
