DepEd, planong magdagdag ng 1,800 school clinics sa bansa

Plano ng Department of Education (DepEd) na magtayo ng mahigit 1,800 na karagdagang dental at medical clinics sa mga paaralan sa buong bansa.

Target itong gawin ng kagawaran bago matapos ang pangalawang quarter ng taon.

“We are looking to equip more schools with clinics equipped with a lavatory and water system for handwashing and cleaning needs, comfort room, and patient’s receiving area in our commitment to strengthen schools’ capacity to protect our learners, especially with our current situation,” pahayag ni Education Secretary Leonor Briones.

Isasagawa ang mga school clinis Sa ilalim ng School Dental Health Care Program (SDHCP).

Magkakaroon din ang mga school clinic ng mga health personnel, medical officer, dentist, at nurse, at isang alternatibong trained clinic teacher na mangangasiwa sakaling sila ay naka-leave.

Ayon kay Bureau of Learner Support Service (BLSS)-OIC Director Lope Santos III, maaaring ma-accommodate ng school clinics ang mga estudyante sa ibang kalapit na paaralan sa elementarya at high school.

Sinabi ni Regional III Supervising Dentist Dr. Leoncio Del Corro na nasa 144 o 80 porsyento ng mga paaralan ang may natanggap at na-install na dental chairs, examination table, hospital bed, wheelchair, at over-the-counter (OTC) medicines.

“Ang number one na challenge na ating haharapin ngayon ay kung magkakaroon na tayo ng mga learners sa schools, para makapagbigay na tayo ng dental services, hindi lang sa mga learners, pati na rin sa mga teachers and personnel natin sa panahon ng New Normal,” ani Dr. Del Corro.

Handa na aniya ang mga school dental health care program sakaling magkaroon na ng face-to-face classes, at maibigay ang lahat ng kailangang serbisyo.
