Phase-out sa mga traditional jeepneys hindi mangyayari hanggang may Bayanihan One – Sen. Poe
Iginiit ni Senator Grace Poe na walang mangyayari phase-out ng anumang uri ng public utility vehicle habang umiiral ang Bayanihan to Recover as One Act.
Sa pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Public Services, sinabi ng LTFRB na hanggang noong nakaraang Disyembre, may 2,589 modern jeepneys na sa bansa.
Bukod pa dito ang 81,092 consolidated units hanggang nitong Marso 5.
Puna ng senadora mas mabilis ang pagdami ng modern jeepneys ngunit marami pa rin ang napapag-iwanan.
Tinataya na may 100,000 PUV drivers at operators ang maaring mawalan ng hanapbuhay sa pagkasa ng PUV Modernization Plan.
“In order to truly heal and recover as one, we need to lift unnecessary burdens caused by deadlines and requirements that could not possibly be met by hundreds of thousands of PUV operators,” sabi ni Poe.
