Vaccine key cards, hindi mandatory requirement sa education and employment transactions – Tolentino

Nilinaw ni Senator Francis Tolentino na hindi kakailanganin ang COVID-19 vaccine cards sa mga transaksyon sa edukasyon, trabaho maging sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno.

Aniya, nang isulong niya sa pagbalangkas ng Republic Act No. 11525, na pinirmahan na ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, ipinaliwanag niya na hindi dapat magamit ang vaccine cards para magkaroon ng diskriminasyon na maaring humantong pa sa mga paglabag sa karapatang-pantao.

Ang senador ang nagpaliwanag sa plenaryo na magkaroon ng anti-discriminatory amendment sa panukalang batas para bigyang proteksyon ang mga estudyante, empleyado, OFWs at iba pa laban sa anumang uri ng diskriminasyon bunsod nang hindi pa nila pagpapabakuna.

“The COVID-19 vaccination should not be made a precondition for entitlement to necessary services or a basis for preferential acts.
Hence, inoculation should not be a determinant whether a person is fit or unfit for work. Neither should it be made a prerequisite for acceptance in any educational institutions nor in the availment of government services,” sabi pa ni Tolentino.

Dagdag pa niya, wala ring dapat ipangamba ang organized labor groups na tinutulan ang posibleng pagpapatupad ng ‘no vaccine, no work’ policy.

“R.A. No. 11525 does not consider COVID-19 inoculation as a prerequisite for either employment or to remain in one’s employ. He stresses that the recently enacted law does not authorize compelling employees to avail of company-sponsored vaccines without their free and informed consent,”sabi pa ng senador.
