Sen. Grace Poe umapila sa gobyerno na hindi ibaba ang taripa ng baboy at bigas
Nanawagan si Senator Grace Poe sa Malakanyang na pakinggan ang apila ng mga magsasaka at magbabababoy na huwag ibaba ang taripa para sa bigas at karne ng baboy na magiging daan para bumuhos ang mga imported rice at karne.
Ayon sa mga magsasaka at magbabababoy kapag nangyari ito, marami ang titigil na sa pagtatanim at pag-aalaga ng baboy.
Diin nito hindi makakabangon ang lokal na industriya kung babaha ng mga imported na karne at bigasy at aniya maaring wala din kasiguruhan na ang aangkatin na karne ay libre sa African swine fever.
Pinuna ng senadora ang hindi pagkilos ng Department of Agriculture kayat umabot na sa Visayas ang ASF.
“It was the DA that petitioned the Tariff Commission (TC) to lower tariffs on pork and rice despite the objections and the strong arguments against it from hog raisers and rice farmers. After failing to hear them out, the DA didn’t even have the research to support the lowering of tariffs or explain its proposal during the hearings,” sabi pa pa nito.
