Sen. Poe sa DOTr: Isyu sa PVMVICs ayusin para sa mga motorista

Pinapa-plantsa ni Sen. Grace Poe sa DOTr ang lahat ng mga isyung bumabalot sa kontrobersyal na Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers (PMVICs) alang-alang sa mg motorista. “The DOTr policy will be a like the sword of Damocles over our heads unless the privatized motor vehicle inspection system is totally halted,” sabi ni Poe. Nagsagawa ng mga pagdinig ang Senate Committee on Public Services na pinamumunuan ni Poe sa mga sangketarbang reklamo ukol sa operasyon ng PMVICs. Ipinunto ni Poe ang ilang isyu na lumabas sa mga pagdinig na pinagbasehan para irekomenda sa DOTr na ipatigil muna ang mga operasyon ng PMVICs. “The committee hopes that the DOTr could fully answer the issues raised in the committee report despite its seeming aversion to do so. Press conferences and statements are not policy. Only executive issuances like Department Orders and Memorandum Circulars can repeal the policies laid down by the very same agencies,” diin ng senadora. Kabilang sa mga kuwestiyonableng hakbang na ginawa ng DOTr ang biglaang pagbabago sa regulasyon na pinapayagan ang mga kawani ng kagawaran at LTO na mag-ari ng PMVICs. Gayundin ang ang paglobo sa 300% ng testing fees, ang hindi paggamit ng Motor Vehicle User’s Fund sa pagtatayo ng mga  inspection centers para libre na ang testing  at ang pagkakaroon lang ng 24 PVMCIs sa buong bansa.
