Resolusyon upang bigyan ng pagkilala ang BIR dahil sa lagpas na target collection noong 2020 inihain sa Kamara
Ikinalugod nina House Majority Leader Martin Romuladez at Deputy Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo ang lagpas na target collection ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) noong nakalipas na taong 2020 sa kabila ng pagbagsak ng ekonomiya sanhi ng naranasang pandemyang dulot ng Covid-19.
Sa ilalim ng House Resolution No. 1538, na inakda nina Romualdez at Arroyo, pinapurihan ng mga ito si BIR Commissioner Cesar Dulay at buong economic team ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa pangunguna ni Finance Sec. Carlos “Sonny” Dominguez sa kanilang pagsusumikap na makabangon ang ekonomiya laban sa pandemya.
Umabot sa kabuuang P1.94 trillion ang nakolekta ng BIR noong nakaraang taon na lagpas ng 15 porsiyento sa target collection na P1.69 trillion o katumbas ng P255.19 billion.
“The Bureau of Internal Revenue has exceeded its tax collection target for the Fiscal Year 2020 despite the crippling effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the national economy,” pahayag pa nina Romualdez at Arroyo.
Dagdag pa ni Romualdez, iniulat ni Commissioner Dulay na huling naisakatuparan ng BIR na malagpasan ang target collection ay noon pang 2001 at 2003.
“BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay’s decisive leadership and together with the entire economic team of President Rodrigo Duterte, has steered the Bureau surpassed its fiscal target through sustained implementation of various fiscal measures aimed at improving the tax collection efficiency of the national government such as the strict implementation of the Taxpayer Account Management Program, monitoring of tax remittances, and escalation of tax awareness learning activities at the local level despite the global health crises brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,” paliwanag ng dalawang lider ng Kamara.
Si Romualdez, bilang chairman ng makapangyarihang House Committee on Rules at Arroyo na chairman ng House Committee on Energy ay parehong nagpahayag na dapat magkaisa ang mga miyembro ng Kongreso na hindi lamang upang kilalanin kundi suportahan ang naging pagkilos ng BIR para sa kapakinabangan ng buong bansa.
“This sterling performance of the Bureau of Internal Revenue for Fiscal Year 2020 under the leadership of Commissioner Caesar Dulay, despite the current economic challenges, should be held up as an example for other public servants to emulate, and therefore worthy of commendation from the House of Representatives,” pahayag pa ng dalawang mambabatas.
