Covid-19 saliva testing center binuksan na sa Subic Bay Freeport Zone

Mayroon na ring COVID-19 saliva test sa Subic Bay Freeport na proyekto ng Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

Ito ay matapos pormal na buksan ni SBMA Chairman and Administrator Wilma Eisma ang saliva collection facility sa PRC-SBMA Covid-19 Testing Center na matatagpuan malapit sa Subic Bay Freeport main gate.

“It’s just like the nasopharyngeal swabbing procedure in terms of efficacy because it uses the same system, which is the RT-PCR,” saad ni Eisma.

Dagdag ng opisyal, “But while others find the nasopharyngeal swabbing somewhat painful, this one is not because it’s non-invasive. To top it all, it’s way cheaper than the swab test.”

Mas madali ang proseso ng saliva test sapagkat mangangailangan lamang ng laway na 1-2mL na ilalagay sa isang collection container.

Sinasabing mas ligtas din ito dahil nababawasan ang exposure ng pasyente at mga health workers na  kumukolekta ng sample.

Bukod dito, mas madali din ang proseo sapagkat ayon sa PRC ay umaabot lamang ito ng anim hanggang 12 oras para makuha ang resulta.

Nagkakahalaga din lamang ng P1,500 hanggang P2,000 ang saliva test kumpara sa  nasal swab test na P3,800 hanggang P5,000.
