Ayon kay Lidy Nacpil, coordinator ng Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD), dapat na renewable energy ang gamitin.
“We call on Asian countries celebrating the Lunar New Year to start the new year and the new decade by committing to swift and just transition from fossil fuels to 100 percent renewable energy for people and communities,” pahayag ni Nacpil.
“We are already suffering devastating impacts of climate change, and it will become much much worse if the world does not take urgent ambitious action far beyond the current pledges of governments,” dagdag ni Nacpil.
Partikular na ipinapanawagan ng grupo ang China na gumawa ng mapangahas na hakbang para sa fossil fuel-free.
“The APMDD calls on China to take decisive steps and pave the way for a fossil fuel-free Asia, together with the governments of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the rest of the Asian region,” dagdag ni Nacpil.
Hinihimok din ng grupo si US President Joe Biden na tuparin ang pangako sa climate actions.
Isa kasi aniya ang Amerika sa mga bansang nangunguna sa polusyon.
