Pagpaparada sa mga lumabag sa face mask policy sa Negros Occidental, pinalagan ng CHR
Pumalag ang Commission on Human Rights sa pagpaparada ng Silay, Negros Occidental police station sa mga residenteng nahuli na hindi nagsusuot ng face mask.
Ayon kay CHR spokesperson Jacqueline de Guia, nakadidismaya at ibinida pa sa online ang pamamahiya sa mga residente.
“We continuously remind law enforcers to adhere to human rights-based policing, including respect for every person’s dignity. Parading alleged quarantine violators on the streets may amount to cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment or punishment penalised by Republic Act No. 9745 (Anti-Torture Act) and barred by Convention Against Torture signed by the Philippines,” pahayag ni de Guia.
Bagama’t pabor ang CHR sa pagpapatupad ng health protocols, hindi naman tama na labagin ang karapatang pantao ng bawat isa.
Dapat pa rin aniyang masunod ang “human rights principles.”
“The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) agree that we need to continuously work together to curb the transmission of the Covid-19 virus by faithfully adhering to health safety protocols set by experts,” pahayag ni de Guia.
