Patuloy ang istriktong pagpapatupad ng Bureau of Customs-NAIA ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) quarantine protocols sa meat products

Sa buwan ng Enero, nasamsam ng 18 kilo ng lamb meat, 42.2 kilo ng karne ng baka na walang Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) clearances.

Na-import ito ng tatlong pasahero mula USA at Saudi Arabia nang dumating sa Terminal 1 at 2 ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Mula January 2019 hanggang December 2020, katuwang ang BAI, nakumpiska ng ahensya ang humigit-kumulang 40,000 kilo ng imported meat and meat products na wala ring SPS clearance upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng African Swine Fever (ASF) sa bansa.

Nagbabala naman si BOC-NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan na patuloy nilang kukumpiskahin ang mga imported meat and meat products na walang kinakailangang permit.

Tiniyak din ng ahensya na paiigtingin pa nila ang border control measures laban sa posibleng pagpasok ng meat products mula sa ASF affected countries sa pamamagitan ng profiling, X-ray scanning at physical examination.
