Hindi na tuloy ang pag-host ng Pilipinas ng FIBA Asia Cup 2021 qualifiers, ayon sa Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
Sinabi ng SBP na ito ay dahil sa umiiral na travel ban sa bansa.
“The SBP wanted nothing else than to be one with the international basketball community as it attempts to bounce back in 2021 after taking a huge hit during the pandemic,” pahayag ni SBP President Al Panlilio.
Dagdag pa nito, “Our commitment to FIBA has never wavered as evidenced by our participation in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in Manama, Bahrain even amidst the difficult circumstances.”
Nakatakda sanang ganapin ang qualifying games sa Clark Freeport sa buwan ng Pebrero.
