Partial operation ng Cebu Bus Rapid Transit System, target ngayong taon
Target ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na magkaroon ng partial operation ang Cebu Bus Rapid Transit o Cebu BRT Package 1 sa taong 2021.
Ito ay matapos ipag-utos ni Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade ang round-the-clock construction ng proyekto.
Sa pulong na isinagawa sa Cebu, sinabi ni Tugade na nais nito na magkaroon ng partial operation ang Cebu BRT para maging dagdag na transportasyon sa gitna ng COVID-19 pandemic.
Sabi ng kalihim, dahil na rin sa tatlong shift ng trabaho sa Cebu BRT, makadaragdag ito ng trabaho sa mga residente ng Cebu na nawalan ng pinagkakakitaan dahil sa pandemic.
Iginiit nito sa contractor ng proyekto na dapat ay 90 porsyento ng workforce sa proyekto ay mga Cebuano.
“While I’m addressing our program of projects, I am addressing the need of the economy and I’m addressing the requirements of the pandemic,” saad ni Tugade.
Kailangan din aniyang matiyak na masunod ang timeline upang hindi maapektuhan ng election ban sa susunod na taon kaya dapat ayon sa opisyal na mapabilis ang procurement process.
Ang 13.2-kilometer bus rapid transit lane ay dadaan sa South Road Properties (SRP) sa bahagi ng Mambaling hanggang sa IT park na may 17 istasyon, dalawang terminal at isang depot.
Bukod sa BRT, mayroon ding 20.2-kilometer bus feeder system kung saan naglagay din ng sidewalk bus stops sa kahabaan ng ruta kabilang ang Cebu IT Park-Talamban, Mambaling-Bulacao at Talisay-SRP.
Kapag naging fully operational, kapag magsakay ng 60,000 pasahero ng Cebu BRT.
