Sa ikalimang sunod na taon, lumagpas pa sa target collection ang halagang nakolekta ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) noong nakalipas na taong 2020.
Ayon sa NTC, sa pagtatapos ng taong 2020, lagpas ng P2.68 bilyon o 53.44 porsyento ang kanilang target collection.
Ang target collection ng NTC para sa taong 2020 ay P5.025 bilyon pero umabot sa P7.711 bilyon ang actual collection nang matapos ang taon.
Ito na ang ikalimang sunod na taon sa ilalim ng kasalukuyang administrasyong Duterte na lumalagpas ang NTC sa collection target nito.
Nagpasalamat naman si NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba na mataas ang actual collection ng ahensya sa kabila ng mga ipinatupad na restrictions sa nagdaang mga buwan dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am grateful to everyone in the NTC for the achievement. Our DICT family, headed by Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II, is also part of this achievement as they have supported all our efforts,” ayon kay Cordoba.
Kinilala rin ni Cordoba ang pagsisikap ng kanilang mga tauhan na istriktong matiyak ang pagtugon ng stakeholders sa pagre-remit ng spectrum users’ fees at pagpapataw ng regulation fees at penalties.
Ang NTC ang ahensya ng gobyerno na nagre-regulate sa cable at commercial television operators, broadcast radio stations, telecommunications companies at commercial and portable radio operators.
Ang collection targets ng mga ahensya ng gobyerno ay salig sa Budget of Expenditures and Sources of Financing na required sa ilalim ng Saligang Batas.
