Pangulong Duterte, ipinahinto ang mining activities sa Tumbagaan Island

Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang pagpapahinto sa mining activities sa bahagi ng Tumbagaan Island sa Languyan, Tawi-Tawi

Sa press briefing, sinabi ni Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles na binanggit ng pangulo sa Cabinet meeting ang pagkabahala sa naturang isla.

Ito aniya ang naging direktiba ng pangulo matapos makatanggap ng mga ulat na “completely devastated” umano ang nasabing isla fahil sa mining operations.

“The island has, at this point, been mined up and while rehabilitation efforts are underway, the President is issuing a directive to stop any and all mining in Tumbagaan Island and to step up the rehabilitation of the area by planting more trees and other efforts of rehabilitation,” pahayag nito.

“More actions will be considered as more light is shed regarding the state of the island and the conduct of mining operations in the area,” dagdag pa ni Nograles.
