Drilon: Ang pangulo ay may ‘executive privilege,’ ang Kongreso puwedeng magkasa ng ‘investigation in aid of legislation’

Walang problema kung igigigiit ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang kaniyang ‘executive privilege’ para hindi humarap sa pagdinig sa Kongreso ang Presidential Security Group.

Ito ang sinabi ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, ngunit giit niya, ang Kongreso ay may kapangyarihang makapagsagawa ng pagdinig ‘in aid of legislation.’

Ang executive privilege ng pangulo ng bansa ay nakasaad sa Executive Order 464 na kinikilala ng Korte Suprema, ngunit sabi ni Drilon, ang pagsasagawa naman ng ‘investigation in aid of legislation’ ay kabilang sa sinasabing ‘legislative powers’ ng Kongreso.

Paliwanag niya, sa pamamagitan ng pagdinig sa Kongreso, sa Senado man o sa Kamara, may may impormasyon na nakakatulong sa pagbuo ng mga panukalang batas.

Aniya, nararapat lang na mabusisi ang national vaccination plan hindi lang dahil sa pagpapabakuna ng Presidential Security Group, ilang sundalo at ilang taga-Malakanyang, kundi pa rin ang napaulat na pagbabakuna kontra COVID-19 ng halos 100,000 Chinese POGO workers.
