Higit P14-M halaga ng marijuana, sinira sa kasagsagan ng holiday season
Aabot sa mahigit P14 milyong halaga ng marijuana ang nasira ng Philippine National Police (PNP) sa kasagsagan ng holiday season.
Noong November 2020, ipinag-utos ni PNP Chief General Debold Sinas sa PNP units na paigtingin pa ang supply reduction operations laban sa ilegal na droga dahil sa inaasahang pagtaas ng demand sa holiday season.
“The relentless marijuana eradication efforts of PNP units in the Cordillera, in coordination with PDEA, led to a scarcity in the supply of marijuana products to users in other parts of the country,” pahayag ni Sinas.
Sa buwan pa lamang ng Disyembre, ilang serye ng marijuana eradication operations ang naisagawa ng Police Regional Office-Cordillera sa 17 magkakahiwalay na cultivation sites at clandestine farms sa nasabing rehiyon.
Base sa ulat mula kay Cordillera PNP Regional Director, Brig. Gen. R’Win Pagkalinawan, inihayag ng hepe ng PNP na nasira ang 73,192 fully-grown marijuana plants at 3,847 marijuana seedlings na may kabuuang street value na P14,792,280.
“This effort will continue beyond the holiday season, and perhaps throughout the year when good weather permits that our troops can reach even the farthest clandestine Marijuana farms targeted for destruction,” pagtitiyak ni Sinas.
Sa pagpasok ng taong 2021, isa pang marijuana plantation site ang nasalakay ng Cordillera police sa bahagi ng Sitio Topinao, Madaymen sa Kibungan, Benguet noong Linggo ng hapon.
Sa nasabing operasyon, nasira ang 1,350 fully-grown marijuana plants na nagkakahalaga ng higit P270, 000.
Sa ngayon, inaalam na ng mga imbestigador kung sino ang may-ari nito sa pamamagitan ng municipal assessor’s office ng Kibungan, Benguet.
Ani Sinas, magpapatuloy ang operasyon ng pulisya laban sa cultivation, production at trafficking ng marijuana.
