CHR, mag-iimbestiga sa pagkamatay ng construction worker na inakalang magnanakaw sa Pampanga

Magkakasa ang Commission on Human Rights (CHR), sa pamamagitan ng CHR Region III, ng motu proprio investigation sa pagkamatay ng isang construction worker sa Sta. Rita, Pampanga.

Nabaril ni Police Cpl. Eframe Ramirez ang biktimang si Federico ‘Tek’ Pineda, 29-anyos, matapos akalaing suspek sa robbery-holdup case noong January 2, 2021.

Habang hinihintay ang resulta ng imbestigasyon, hinikayat ni CHR spokesperson Atty. Jacqueline Ann de Guia ang pulisya na mas kilalanin ang paggamit ng pwersa at armas sa gitna ng operasyon.

“As detailed in their own Philippine National Police revised operational procedures, the use of excessive force is categorically prohibited,” pahayag ni de Guia.

Dapat din aniyang mapaalalahanan ang bawat pulis sa kanilang tungkulin na protektahan ang publiko.

Sinabi pa nito na hindi dapat maging unang opsyon ang pagpatay.

“For in the end, the goal of law enforcement should be to protect human rights and dignity and never to violate them,” dagdag pa nito.
