Campaign period sa local candidates umpisa na, pero pangangampanya, bawal dahil Biyernes Santo pa
Simula na ngayong araw ang campaign period para sa local elections.
Gayunman, dahil Biyernes Santo ay bawal muna ang mangampanya.
Ayon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec), bukas araw ng Sabado ay pwede nang mangampanya ang mga kandidato para sa lokal na posisyon. “Official campaign period for local candidates starts March 25. BUT local candidates can actually only campaign starting Mar. 26,” ayon sa abiso ni Comelec spokesman James Jimenez..
Sa ilalim ng Comelec Resolution No. 9981, ang mga kandidato sa lokal na posisyon ay maaring magsimula ng kampanya 45 araw bago ang eleksyon.
Gayunman mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang pangangampanya ng Huwebes Santo at Biyernes Santo batay sa Section 5 ng Republic Act No. 7166 o “An act providing for synchronized national and local elections and for electoral reforms, authorizing appropriations therefore and for other purposes”.
