2,000 bagong cell sites itatayo ng Globe sa 2021
Tiniyak ng kumpanyang Globe na magpapatuloy ang kanilang agresibong network expansion sa susunod na taon.
Ayon sa Globe, para sa taong 2021, target nilang makapagtayo ng dagdag pang 2,000 cell towers sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa.
Sa pahayag, nagpasalamat sa pamahalaan si Gil Genio, Chief Technology and Information Officer ng Globe dahil malaking bagay aniya ang pagpapagaan sa permit requirements upang mapabilis ang proseso ng pagtatayo ng cell sites.
“We would like to thank the government for all its support, specifically in downsizing the requirements or permits we needed especially in the second half of this year. With more and more LGUs following the lead of the national government in easing and streamlining the needed requirements, we are targeting to install at least 2,000 new sites,” ayon kay Genio.
Noong wala pa ang ARTA JMC at Bayanihan 2, ang Globe ay nakapagtayo lamang ng 500 cell towers noong 2018.
Noong 2019 umabot sa 1,100 ang naitayong bagong sites.
At ngayong 2020 sa kabila ng nararanasang COVID-19 pandemic, nananatili ang target ng Globe na maitayo ang 1,300 na cell sites.
Para mas mapabilis ang proseso ng pagtatayo ng cell sites, nakipag-partner din ang Globe sa limang independent tower companies para sa pagtatayo ng 900 towers.
“With a promising start with these tower companies in 2021, we can expect to see more cell towers in different areas in the country. These new builds will help increase capacity of our network in most areas and at the same time provide better access and mobile experience to customers in parts of the country where we initially don’t have a cell site,” dagdag ni Genio.
