Bilang ng napauwing overseas Filipinos dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic umabot na sa 300,000

Umabot na sa 300,000 ang bilang ng mga overseas Filipinos na napauwi sa bansa simula nang magkaroon ng pandemya ng COVID-19.

Nitong nagdaang linggo lamang sinabi ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) na umabot sa 13,537 ang kabuuang bilang ng mga Pinoy na naisailalim sa repatriation.

Ito ang pinakamataas na weekly total ng mga umuwing OFs, mula nang mag-umpisa ang repatriation efforts ng DFA noong Pebrero.

Kabilang sa mga napauwi nitong nagdaang linggo ang mga sumusunod:

11 stranded Filipinos mula Malaysia
9 undocumented OFWs mula China
8 medical repatriates mula France, Japan, Austria, Oman, UAE, USA
3 undocumented OFWs at possible victims ng trafficking-in-persons mula Qatar, Egypt, at Syria
2 seafarers mula sa Bahamas
1 distressed Filipino student mula Australia

Ayon sa DFA, sa kabuuan, 300,838 na overseas Filipinos mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo ang nakauwi na sa bansa.

Sa nasabing bilang, 90,621 (30.12%) ay pawang sea-based workers habang 210,217 (69.88%) ang land-based.
