Justice Marvic Leonen sinampahan ng impeachment complaint
Ipinagharap ng reklamong impeachment sa Kamara si Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
Isang Edwin Cordevilla na Secretary General ng Filipino League of Advocates for Good Government o FLAGG ang tumayong complainant kasama ang kanyang abogado na si Atty. Larry Gadon ang naghain ngayong umaga ng reklamo sa tanggapan ni House Secretary-General Mark Llandro Mendoza.
Base sa 41-pahinang reklamo, culpable violation of the Constitution at betrayal of public trust ang pinagbatayang grounds ng impeachment laban kay Justice Leonen.
Paliwanag ni Gadon, hindi ng kanyang Statement of Asset Liabilities and Networth o SALN si mahistrado gayundin delayed ang pagresolba nito ng mga kaso na kanyang hinahawakan.
Sa ilalim ng Impeachment Rules kailangang mayroong kongresista na endorso ng impeachment complaint bago ito madala sa Committee on Rules ng Kamara para maisalang sa unang pagbasa at i-refer sa Committee on Justice.
Sa Committee on Justice diringgin ang impeachment complaint kung saan maghaharap ng testigo at ebidensya ang complainant at respondent.
Kapag napatunayang guilty sa komite, iaakyat ito sa plenaryo upang aprubahan saka naman dadalhin sa Senado na tatayong Impeachment Court.
Si Ilocos Norte 2nd District Rep. Angelo Barba ang nag endorso sa Kamara ng impeachment complaint kay Justice Leonen.
Bilang isang Supreme Court Justice si Leonen, sa ilalim ng 1987 Constitution maari lamang ito maalis sa puwesto maliban sa kanyang pagbibitiw at pagreretiro sa pamamagitan ng impeachment.
Si Atty. Gadon din ang naghain ng reklamong impeachment laban kay dating Chief Justice Ma Lourdes Sereno na napatalsik naman dahil sa quo warranto ng Supreme Court.
