Gym ng NKTI ginawang ward dahil sa dami ng pasyenteng may leptospirosis

Ilang linggo matapos ang naranasang pagbaha dulot ng Typhoon Ulysses lumobo ang mga pasyenteng may leptospirosis sa National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI).

Dahil sa dami ng pasyente, maging ang gym ng ospital ay nai-convert na bilang ward para sa mga leptospirosis patient.

Umaabot sa 30 hanggang 40 ang pasyente sa gym.

Ayon kay NKTI Executive Director Rose Marie Liquete, sa mga pasyente ng leptospirosis sa opsital, siyam pa ang nagpositibo sa COVID-19,

Agad silang dinala sa COVID-19-designated wards para maiwasan ang paghahawaan.

Ang leptospirosis ay isang water-borne disease na maaring mauwi sa kidney damage, meningitis, liver failure, respiratory distress at pagkasawi kapag hindi naagapan.

Nakukuha ito kapag na-expose sa tubig baha na kontaminado ng ihi ng hayop gaya ng daga, baboy, aso, at kambing.
