Mag-asawang Tiamzon hinatulang guilty ng korte sa kasong kidnapping at serious illegal detention

Guilty ang hatol ng Quezon City Regional Trial Court sa mag-asawang Benito at Wilma Tiamzon para sa kinakaharap nilang kasong kidnapping at serious illegal detention.

Kaugnay ito sa pagdukot sa tatlong military officers at isang tauhan ng narcotics command.

Sa 18-pahinang desisyon ni QCRTC Branch 216 Presiding Judge Alfonso C. Ruiz II hinatulan ng reclusion perpetua o hanggang 40-taon na pagkakakulong ang mag-asawa.

Inatasan din silang magbayad sa complainant na si Lieutenant Abraham Claro Casis ng P75,000 na moral damages; P75,000 na civil indemnity; at P75,000 na exemplary damages.

Nag-ugat ang kaso sa pagdukot kina Lieutenants Clariton Santos, Oscar Singson, Rommel Salamanca, at Abraham Casis ng Armed Forces of the Philippines at Sergeant John Jacob ng Philippine Narcotics Command sa Quezon province noong 1988.

Pero ang kaso laban sa mag-asawa ay naisampa lamang sa korte noong 2003.

“This court finds no reason to disbelieve the testimony of complainant considering that his narration of facts was straightforward, categorical and in accord with the natural course of things,” ayon sa pasya ng korte.
