Sen. Zubiri, umapela sa DSWD na ipalabas ang hindi nagastang P83-B
Nanawagan si Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri sa DSWD na ipalabas na ang hindi nagastang P83 bilyon sa kanilang pondo at bigyang tulong ang mga labis na naapektuhan ng pananalasa ng mga nagdaang bagyo.
Magugunita na sa deliberasyon ng 2021 budget ng DSWD, nadiskubre na may nakasubi pa silang P75 bilyon mula sa kanilang regular budget at P6.7 bilyon na alokasyon sa Bayanihan 1 at Bayanihan 2.
“For context, the damages from the recent typhoons to our agricultural sector is currently standing at PHP10 billion, per the Department of Agriculture. Imagine what PHP83 billion can do. It will be a mere drop in the bucket for the DSWD to provide urgent financial assistance to affected farmers,” sabi ni Zubiri.
Binanggit din nito ang pagtaas sa 17.7 percent ng unemployment rate sa bansa dahil sa pandemya bagamat aniya, unti-unti ay may mga nakakabalik na sa kani-kanilang trabaho sa pagluwag ng quarantine protocols.
Diin nito, ang pondo ng DSWD ay maaaring mapakinabangan ng maliliit na negosyo, public transport drivers at service industry workers.
“And so we urge the DSWD to urgently release its funds before the year ends, and ensure that our people are receiving the assistance they need in these desperate times,” pakiusap pa ni Zubiri.
