Halos 9,000 overseas Filipinos, na-repatriate sa nagdaang linggo

Nasa 8,831 overseas Filipinos (OFs) ang na-repatriate ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa nagdaang linggo.

Dahil dito, umabot na sa kabuuang 254,785 ang repatriated OFs simula nang ikasa ang COVID-related repatriation efforts ng kagawaran noong Pebrero.

Sa 8,831, 7,715 o 87 porsyento ng repatriates ay dumating mula sa Middle East; 611 sa Asia-Pacific, 503 sa Europe at dalawa mula sa Americas.

Inayos din ng DFA ang Philippine Airlines flight patungong Guangzhou, China para mapauwi ng Pilipinas ang 86 distressed overseas Filipinos sa iba’t ibang rehiyon sa China.

Sa kabila ng COVID-19 pandemic, matagumpay na naasistihan ng DFA ang pagbabalik ng 151 Filipino deportees mula Malaysia.

Tatlong OFs na may chronic illness din ang napauwi mula sa UAE, Bahrain, at Oman.

Natulungan din ng Foreign Service Posts ng kagawaran ang pagbabalik ng overseas Filipinos mula sa Antigua at Barbuda, Bahamas, Vietnam, at Japan.

Base sa pagtataya ng DFA, karagdagang 90,000 Filipino pa ang mare-repatriate bago matapos ang taong 2020.
