Pagpapalakas sa Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), iginiit

Kinalampag ni AAMBIS-OWA Partylist Rep. Sharon Garin ang Kamara na ipasa ang panukalang naglalayong palakasin ang Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).

Kasunod ito ng pananalasa ng Bagyong Quinta at Rolly na namerwisyo nang husto sa sektor ng agrikultura.

Layon ng House Bill 7627 na itaas ang capital stock ng PCIC mula P2 bilyon sa P10 bilyon.

Iginiit ni Garin na kung tataasan ang capital stock ng PCIC ay agarang matutulungan ang maliliit na magsasaka at mangingisda.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, obligado ang PCIC na i-insure ang mga ari-arian at mga pasilidad ng gobyerno na ginagamit sa agriculture-fishery-forestry projects.

Nakasaad rin dito ang extension ng reinsurance coverage para sa pananim na palay at mais, high-value commercial crops, livestock, aquaculture and fishery products, agroforestry crops, at forest plantations.

Isa rin sa mahahalagang probinsyon ng bill ang pagpapahintulot sa PCIC na palawigin ang life and accident insurance coverage para sa mga magsasaka, mangingisda at kanilang dependents.
