May napili na si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na bagong hepe ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, ito ay si National Capital Region Police Office Director Major General Debold Sinas.
Ayon kay Roque, magsisimula ang panunungkulan ni Sinas bukas, November 10, 2020 kasabay ng pagbaba sa pwesto ni outgoing PNP chief General Camilo Cascolan na magri-retiro na bukas.
Kung ang seniority ang susundin o ang rule of succession, si PNP Deputy Chief for Administration PLt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ang number two man ng PNP.
Manunungkulan si Sinas hanggang Mayo ng susunod ng taon bago magretiro.
Ayon kay Roque, tiningnan ni Pangulong Duterte ang record ni Sinas.
Isang presidential prerogative aniya ang pag appoint ni Pangulong Duterte kay Sinas.
Hindi kasi aniya matatawaran ang naiambag ni Sinas sa war on drug ni Pangulong Duterte.
Utos ng Pangulo sa bagong PNP chief, ipagpatuloy ang war on drugs at ang pagpapanatili sa peace and order sa bansa.
Naging kontrobersiyal si Sinas dahil sa mañanita o pagdaraos ng birthday party kahit na umiiral pa ang quarantine protocol dahil sa COVID-19.
