Mga nakumpiskang frozen meat, hindi pwedeng i-auction, agad idi-dispose ng Customs
Tiniyak ng Bureau of Customs na hindi aabot sa merkado ang mga nakumpiskang frozen meat sa Manila International Container Port (MICP).
Ayon kay MICP Auction and Cargo Disposal Division Chief Gerry Macatangay, aabot sa 171 na container vans ang nakatakdang i-dispose ng kanilang hanay.
Naka-consign aniya ang mga frozen meat sa Jcore Enterprises, Lucky Sisters at Lean Pasture at naipasok sa bansa mula Enero hanggang Hunyo noong 2015.
Ayon kay Macatangay, hinihintay na lamang nila ngayon ang approval ng Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) at International Container Terminal Services Incorporation para ma-dispose ang mga frozen meat.
Nabatid na aabot sa anim na buwan hanggang isang taon ang shelf life ng frozen meat. “The shipments are contained in refrigerated vans. Normally, shelf life for frozen meat is 6 months up to a year. Regardless, ICTSI will unplug the vans once the shipment has been approved for condemnation to start the disposal process. So, we assure the general public that there is no way any abandoned meat can be resold for consumption, We can only confiscate and destroy, return to country of origin or ship to a third country,” ayon kay Macatangay.
Nakasaad sa Department of Agriculture (DA) 09-2010 circular na maaring i-auction, ibenta, redeemed, o i-donate ng pamahalaan ang mga nakukumpiskang kargamento.
