Na-repatriate na overseas Filipinos sa Oktubre, nasa 37,095 – DFA

Sa ika-walong buwan ng COVID-related repatriation efforts ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), umabot sa 37,095 ang bilang ng napauwing overseas Filipinos ng buwan ng Oktubre.

Sa kabuuan, pumalo na sa 237,363 ang napauwing overseas Filipinos simula nang magkaroon ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Sa nasabing bilang, 77,326 overseas Filipinos o 32.58 porsyento ang sea-based habang 160,037 o 67.42 porsyento ang land-based.

Narito ang bilang ng repatriates sa Oktubre sa mga sumusunod na rehiyon:
– 31,849 o 85.86 porsyento mula sa Middle East
– 2,716 o 7.32 porsyento mula sa Asia and the Pacific
– 2,406 o 6.49 porsyento mula sa Europe
– 92 o 0.25 porsyento mula sa Africa
– 32 o 0.09 porsyento mula sa Americas

“As we sustain our repatriation efforts in the last two months of the year, the DFA remains fully committed to bringing home our kababayan, whatever challenges we may face,” pahayag ni Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola.

Ayon sa kagawaran, inaasahang mare-repatriate ang karagdagang mahigit 107,000 Filipino sa pagtatapos ng 2020.
