Mas maraming centers for excellence para sa mga guro, kailangan – Sen. Gatchalian

Para tumaas ang kalidad ng mga nangangarap maging guro, sinabi ni Senator Sherwin Gatchalian na dapat madagdagan ang centers for excellence para sa pag-aaral at pagsasanay ng mga Education students.

Sa pagdinig, ibinahagi ng Philippine Business for Education na mayroon lang 74 centers for excellence and development sa 1,572 Teacher Education Institutions sa bansa.

Hindi na dapat aniya hintayin pa ng gobyerno ang aplikasyon para sa TEI para kilalanin ang isang institusyon na center for excellence tulad ng Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela na hindi kinikilalang TEI ngunit may mga estudyante na namayagpag sa Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

“The government should be proactive in looking for and promoting these centers of excellence which, in effect, will attract the best teachers to go to those centers of excellence,” ayon sa namumuno sa Senate Committee on Basic Education.

Unang inihain ni Gatchalian ang Senate Bill No. 1887 na layong repormahin at palakasin ang TEC para mapaganda ang pagsasanay ng mga guro at para mapaganda ang ugnayan ng DepEd at Commission on Higher Education.
