P2-M halaga ng ukay-ukay, nasabat ng BOC-CDO
Nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs – Cagayan de Oro (BOC-CDO) ang 400 bundles ng ukay-ukay sa Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) noong October 16.
Ayon sa ahensya, naka-consign ang shipment sa umano’y Humility Trading.
Nagmula ang shipment sa Korea at duamting sa bansa noong October 13.
Unang idineklara na naglalaman ang shipment ng mga gamit na blanket, pillowcase at laruan ngunit kalaunan ay nadiskubreng naglalaman ng gamit na damit o ukay-ukay.
Sinabi ng BOC na tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng P2 milyon ang nasabat na ukay-ukay.
Dahil dito, agad naglabas si District Collector John Simon ng alert order laban sa shipment upang hindi mai-release
Sa ngayon, iniimbestigahan na ang shipment dahil sa posibleng paglabag sa Section 1400 na may kinalaman sa Section 1113 ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
Ang pag-import ng nasabing produkto ay paglabag din sa Republic Act 4653 o “An Act to Safeguard the Health of the People and Maintain the Dignity of the Nation by Declaring it a National Policy to Prohibit the Commercial Importation of Textile Articles Commonly Known as Used Clothing and Rags.”
