Mas mababang arrivals ngayong taon aasahan ayon sa BI

Posibleng magkaroon ng mas mababang turnout ng uuwing mga pasahero sa bansa ngayong taon.

Batay sa rekord ng BI, simula noong Enero hanggang Setyembre ay umabot lang sa 3.5 million na pasahero ang umuwi sa bansa.

Mas mabababa ito kumpara sa 13 milyon na umuwi sa bansa sa parehong petsa noong nakaraang taon.

Sinabi ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente na nagsimulang bumaba ang bilang ng mga umuuwing pasahero noong Enery bunsod ng travel restrictions na ipinatupad.

Nagpatupad din ang BI ng suspensyon sa pag-iisyu ng Visa Upon Arrival dahil sa pandemic ng COVID-19.

Sa ngayon, tanging mga Filipinos lamang, kanilang asawa at mga anak ang pinapayagan na makapasok sa bansa kung tourist visa ang hawak.

Noong nakaraang taon, nakapagtala ang BI ng mahigit 16 million arrivals na mas mataas kumpara sa 15.1 million na naitala noong 2018.
